Meshless methods belong to one of the most progressively developed  aspects of modern Computational Mechanics, which is increasingly being  used in many fields of engineering and sciences. Each day, the number of new results in this field is growing significantly, and therefore there is a natural need to discuss the current results and further developments. The First ICCES Special Symposium on Meshless Methods was held successfully in Stara Lesna, Slovakia, Jun 8-10, 2005, the Second in Dubrovnik, Croatia, June 14-16, 2006, the Third in Patras, Greece, June 15-17, 2007, the fourth in Suzhou, China, October 13-17, 2008, and the fifth in Slovenia, Aug 31-Sep 2, 2009.
